Del Mandel was born Derek Mandel in London and has been playing guitar and other stringed instruments since childhood. After leaving school, he became a professional musician.

   In the 70s he played with Danta, an “Afro Rock” band, then played Reggae inspired music with Ozo, Both these bands had records in the top 100.

He has recorded with top names, including George Harrison.

   Mid 70s saw him playing with an experimental instrumental band “Specta” playing festivals and clubs around Britain. He has kept an interest in experimenting with musical ideas including ambient music and even techno inspired guitar.  

During the 80s, he toured Europe with top Country band

Aubrey Lovejoy & Tennessee Rain.

Presently playing with the 60s All Stars, featuring members of the Kinks, Swinging Blue Jeans and Foundations

   Del Mandel now plays with various bands and plays solo in pubs and clubs, with acoustic guitar, or with good quality backing tracks.

   The priority is, to find the right balance between musicianship, and a good fun evening.
